First of all, welcome to my blog, I’m so happy you stopped by! First things first, this (blogging) is a totally NEW thing for me so I welcome you to the journey! If you don’t already know me, I’m Camryn and I am a wedding photographer based in Denver, Colorado but my roots are on the east coast (Virginia to be exact). I moved out to Denver in March 2020 (terrible timing I know…) to be with my then-boyfriend Trevor as he had recently gotten a job. We survived the work-from-home life and got engaged in December 2020, but that is a story for another time! I work-full time as a dietitian and diabetes educator but my job doesn’t give me the creative outlet I always crave, so in comes photography. Using photography as a creative outlet has led to the creation of Camryn Schwab Photography, and now a focus on wedding photography. There are SO many reasons why I love being a wedding photographer, but it all started somewhere. Specifically: my grandparent’s property in northwest Ohio.

The first time I held a camera I was around 7 or 8 when my grandpa let me use his Nikon D70 to help him photograph birds in his backyard. After we did this for a bit, he let me take the camera into the orchards and garden to try it out for myself. I took pictures of apples and tree branches and the cows next door. I was immediately HOOKED. Every summer after that, I would ask my grandpa to play around with his camera when we visited until I turned 13 and my dad gifted me my first DSLR (a Sony Alpha 55). Oh the photoshoots my friends and I would have with that camera… wayyyy too embarrassing to share in public. As we got to our senior year in high school, I offered to do all of my friends' senior portraits, which actually turned out to be a great side hustle right before college! But as college courses became more time consuming and the big-girl world crept closer and closer, photography fell to the backburner.

And by backburner, I mean I didn’t pick up my camera for 4 years. Looking back now, I probably should’ve used my photography in college as a stress relief because I really do love it so much! I took some senior sessions for friends in college right before graduation and then fell off again as I entered my dietetic internship. I finally picked my camera back up in July 2020 when my cousin, Leah, was getting married. She, like so many other COVID brides, had to postpone her big ceremony and reception and opt for a micro wedding in a family friend’s backyard. She didn’t have the time or money to find another photographer so she reached out to ask me to photograph her wedding. I was so honored and EXCITED to be part of her big day (see some images from her wedding below)! At the end of the day, I was so tired but so high on the experience of capturing someone’s wedding. Again, I was HOOKED!

If it wasn’t for Leah, I don’t know if Camryn Schwab Photography would exist right now. Photographing my first wedding completely reinspired me to do photography and really give it my all. It is so fulfilling to make connections with new people, learn about their lives and what they have done with them, and best of all: capturing their JOY and LOVE during the most exciting time in their lives! I get so giddy to meet my couples and give them a memorable and fun photography experience! Through this ongoing journey, I have rekindled my passion for this amazing work that I am so lucky to do. I can’t wait to see what's in store and I hope you come along with me!

Thanks for stopping by! I'd love to hear from you!
